Liceul Teoretic de Informatică "Grigore Moisil" from Iași celebrated #erasmusdays 2020 with a unique event, in the spirit of the times that education is going through during this period affected by the pandemic crisis. "How About Insta-School?" is the question with which students were challenged in an intense debate about the role of social media in the lives of teenagers everywhere. The students had the opportunity to discuss about social media and the impact that social networks have on education. The debate was unique both in terms of content and organization. During the activity, students had the opportunity to analyze some materials about the negative effects, but also about the positive ones of social media and to express their opinion on how they see the use of social media in the school space. The debate was exciting, not without controversy and challenge, as is the subject itself. The conclusion, as it resulted from the opinion poll conducted online at the end of the debate, was a definite one: the students liked it and want to have more such activities. The event was attended by 60 students from the ninth and twelfth grades, from in different locations, as the school is currently practicing the hybrid teaching scenario, with both online and offline lessons. Thus, some of the students were in the classroom, others in one of the laboratories of the high school, and others participated in discussions from home. The meeting took place on the Microsoft Teams platform, the platform currently used by our high school to support online or hybrid classes.

The event, organized by two teachers, Anamaria Ghiban and Lăcrămioara Tufescu, is part of a series of such activities designed to familiarize both students and teachers with the use of social media channels in the educational process. In fact, Liceul Teoretic de Informatică "Grigore Moisil" is the coordinator of an ongoing Erasmus + project entitled “Educational Toolkit for the Development of Social Media Literacy” (Erasmus + no. 2019-1-RO01-KA201-063996) in which teachers and media literacy specialists from Romania, Belgium, Italy and Portugal will create an educational kit to encourage and help teachers use social media in the educational process, regardless of the subjects they teach.
Liceul Teoretic de Informatică "Grigore Moisil" thus joined the map of #erasmusdays 2020 events, the over 5,000 activities that took place this year to celebrate Erasmus spirit.
